Is there such thing as an external harddrive/dvd burner or recorder out there? - harddrive recorders

I am looking for an external drive / DVD recorder or combo drive Vip625 connection to my Dish Network. Do you have a pet there to work, if so, after enabling USB port 625? I'm trying to get a digital transmission to digital. If this is not possible, what is the alternative
